Leal looking for his 200th win

It shouldn’t be too difficult for coach Alex Leal to pick up his 200th career victory withm the team he has. The Valley’s all-time winningest coach, who has had stops at Harlingen South, McAllen High, Port Isabel and a previous stint at Raymondville in the 1970s has rebuilt the Bearkats program.

Leal, who is only two wins away from 200, likes to say that his accomplishments come from being around high school football for so long, but he has to get credit for finding the best out of his players.

This season’s Raymondville squad lacks the strength and size but are still the favorites to win District 31-3A because Leal will utilize his team’s speed and athleticism to pile up the Bearkats’ victories in ‘07.

Ont the night Leal reaches 200, he will not want his milestone to overshadow his team’s perfotmance but it will be difficult to overlook his legendary career.
