Mercedes 83 yards of total offense… Tigers QB Albert Chavez 50 yards passing and 31 yards rushing … Tigers TB Alex Trevino 4 yards rushing and 6 receiving yards … Tigers RB Isreal Vela 20 yards receiving.

Hidalgo 147 total yards of offense … Pirates QB Oscar Perez 79 yards rushing, including a 35-yard TD run … Perez also has a 55-yard TD pass to Ricky Dominguez and remains the only TD reception for Hidalgo.

Hidalgo keeping Mercedes in check

Hidalgo leads 16-6 at halftime, holding Mercedes to only 73 yards of total offense.

The Pirates struck first in the opening quarter with a 27-yard FG by Luis Peraza and then took a 10-0 lead on a 35-yard run by QB Oscar Perez. Perez connected with Rick Dominguez for a 55-yard TD pass that gave the Pirates a 16-0 lead.

Merecedes were able to move the move the ball 57 yards in the final two minutes of the half and scored on a Albert Chavez 6-yard run to cut the lead to 16-6.
