QB David Alaniz scored on a 3-yard run to give PI a 28-17 lead with 25.2 second left in the game.

This sets up a big 32-3A showdown with Rio Hondo next week.

PI  has the ball on the Pirates 3. Hidalgo could not stop the drive. PI began the drive on thier 4 and have picked up six first downs and now has fourth and goal at the 3 with 35.2 seconds left in the game.

Finally the fans are showing some love on both sides. The game is a tight one and both sides are acting like it.

Pirates have the ballat their own 29 with 10:57 left in the game. 

Pirates won’t go away. After recovering a Nunez fumble at ther own 32, the Pirates marched down the field and scored on a QB 22-yard keeper.

Tarpons lead 21-17 with 1:35 left in the third quarter.

This is the second consecutive District 32-3A game that I cover and I have to say, the 32-3A fans might be the worse.

This week the Pirates fans showed up but was more vocal about the band’s performance than the game.

Rio Hondo fans were oddly quiet last week. I thought PI fans were loud but have been just as quiet as Bobcats and Pirates fans.

These are big games.

PI might be leading but Hidalgo has outplayed the Tarpons.

Just like last week, the Pirates find ways to hurt themselves. Hidalgo was driving on their second possesion and was inside the Tarpons 30 when QB Oscar Perez threw an intercpetion as the 24.

Hidalgo has five penalties for 25 yards while PI is yet to commit a penalty.

PI has 208 total yards (116 rushing, 92 passing) and are led by 103 yards rushing by Nolan Nunez, who scored on an 80-yard run.

 Hidlago has 172 total yards (32 passing, 140 rushing). Leading rsuher for the Pirates is QB Oscar Perez with 76 on 16 totes.

Jesus Mirles  connects for a 25-yard FG to cut the Tarpons lead to 14-10 with3:14 to go before halftime. The Pirates did have a first and goal at the 5 but had negative yardage on the next three plays.

Tarpons QB David Alaniz connected with WR James Delgado for a 35-yard score. Nolan Nunez caught a two-point conversion that put PI up 14-7 with 9:49 left to play in the first half.
