The DeSoto girls hoops team is ranked No. 11 nationally by Sports Illustrated but only No. 3 in the state by the Texas Association of Basketball Association. DeSoto is the highest ranked Texas team on the SI list.
Cy-Fair and Timberview, which are ranked ahead of DeSoto in the state, are nowhere to be foud on the SI list.
The only other Texas team to be ranked by SI is Bellaire, which is No. 15 nationally and No.6 is the state.
The TABC poll was last updated Feb. 3. SI posted its poll Feb. 7. I think its interesting that the two teams SI thinks are the best in Texas are not considered the best by coaches in the state. I am telling you these polls are difficult to come up with and all over the place.
