McHi is Regional Bound

February 19th, 2008, 12:35 am by Peter Rasmussen

The Lady Bulldogs will play S.A. Wagner at 6 p.m. Friday at the UTSA Convocation Center. Check out the game story here. It is the Valley’s No. 1 and the Alamo City’s No. 1. Wagner is ranked No. 8 in the state. McAllen High is No. 19.

I’ll be up in San Antonio. I covered the boys regional last year and that ended in a first-round Weslaco loss. I’ll be honest, I am looking for some history to write about.

Sometimes I don’t have a lot of room to write everything I want to in my story.  One of the things the Alexander coach and coaches I have  interviewed about McHi in the past is that eventually the strong post play of McHi wears teams down.

Alexander had some good shooters that kept and one good post player that kept them in the game but in the end Becca and Andi are weapons many teams don’t have. Other teams might have speed and shooters but get outplayed inside.  That is why I think they are the No. 1 team in the Valley compared to South.

Coach Casso agreed that she has great posts but said her team played with heart, hustled and did the small things that only coaches notice and that is why they came away successful.

I am anxious to see how Becca and Andi do against Wagner on Friday.

I’ll be in Falfurrias again, covering Edcouch-Elsa boys and Hidalgo girls.

By all accounts, those going out to the Alexander-South game should be in for a good one.

There is a real possibility that a women can become president, and then this story from Kansas comes along.

For all you baseball fans and track & field fans start hitting up my blog. Once basketball is over I’ll need something to write about.

Paul thanks for asking about the Dauchsund. I named him Kingston. Yeah, dogs are a lot of work but I just felt bad for this one. I took him to the vet Monday and he had broken ribs. It looks like he is going to make it though.

Pat-see: As far as you question is concernced, it was my fiancee and her aunt’s  idea. I just followed.
